Our Story
Founded in 2010, UrbanOak began as a small workshop in Portland, Oregon, with a passion for transforming raw oak into functional art. Our founder, Michael Reeves, believed that every urban space deserved a touch of nature's warmth and elegance.
What started as a one-person operation has grown into a team of 15 master craftspeople who share Michael's vision for creating furniture that stands the test of time. We've remained true to our roots, maintaining our small-batch production approach even as demand for our pieces has grown internationally.
Our workshop continues to operate in Portland, where we've expanded to a 10,000 square foot facility that houses both our production area and a showroom open to the public. Here, clients can witness firsthand the care and attention that goes into each UrbanOak creation.
We sustainably source our oak from responsibly managed forests in the Pacific Northwest, supporting local ecosystems and communities while reducing our environmental footprint. Each piece of wood is carefully selected for its grain pattern, strength, and character, ensuring that every item we produce is truly unique.
At UrbanOak, we believe that furniture should tell a story—not just of the tree it came from, but of the hands that shaped it and the home it will become part of. This philosophy guides everything we do, from design to delivery.
